G Adventures, the world’s adventure travel leader, is calling on the Australian travel industry to come together for the first ever staging of the global ‘Future of Tourism’ event in Melbourne on Wednesday, 18 April 2012.
As part of a global program of high level travel industry forecasting discussions, the ‘Future of Tourism’ event will explore the future of travel and sustainability, changing consumer demands and how sustainable tourism plays such a vital role in giving back to the places we visit.
Following successful ‘Future of Tourism’ events across North America and the UK, the upcoming Melbourne event will feature special video insights from internationally renowned Prof. David Suzuki, as well as lively discussions about the future of the travel industry and sustainable travel, with visionaries from across the tourism spectrum.
The ‘Future of Tourism’ speaking panel includes:
Bruce Poon Tip, Founder, G Adventures: Founder of G Adventures, Bruce has been one of sustainable tourism's most active proponents for more than 20 years. In recognition of his personal commitment to sustainable tourism, Bruce has spoken at the United Nations launch of the Year of Eco Tourism in New York, along with discussing responsible tourism at the World Trade Organization's Ethics in Tourism Conference and at the World Tourism Conference.
Jennifer Adams, Founder and Executive Producer, Places We Go: After a successful career with Network Seven, Jennifer took the leap of faith to pursue her dream of producing the Travel Series Places We Go, currently airing on Network Ten and Discovery Travel and Living Australasia. Jen has worked with all major commercial TV networks in Australia as a news reporter, prime time newsreader, presenter and documentary film maker.
Gary Arndt, Travel Blogger, everything-everywhere.com: Creator of one of the most popular travel blogs in the world—and one of TIME's "Top 25 Best Blogs of 2010," no less—Gary has been travelling the world since 2007. Perhaps no one is as well equipped to discuss the future of communications and mobility in regards to travel than he is.
While there is no official charge for the event, G Adventures is suggesting a donation of $5 which will benefit the Planeterra Foundation. Founded by G Adventures, Planeterra is a non-profit foundation supporting social and environmental solutions in the destinations its travellers visit.
To celebrate the first ever staging of the Future of Tourism event in Australia, G Adventures will also be offering trip prize giveaways at the event.
