Vivid Sydney (25 May ¨C 11 June), now in its fourth year, was today officially opened with ¡®Lighting the Sails¡¯ of Sydney¡¯s iconic Opera House, unveiling a stunning celebration of color, movement and digital artistry.
Tens of thousands of onlookers gathered around the harbour foreshore to watch this festival highlight and marvel at the creative mastery as the Opera House became awash with 3D projections by multi-award winning German design team, URBANSCREEN.
Developed by the New South Wales (NSW) Government through Destination NSW, Vivid Sydney is the largest festival of light, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere, featuring more than 60 interactive and immersive light installations and 3D digital mapping projections including works from Singaporeans Angela Chong, Sun Yu-li and The Arup Group (Vivid Light). The festival will also feature creative ideas, public talks, industry seminars, workshop ands debates (Vivid Ideas); and over 25 events including two world premieres by international artists such as will.i.am, Florence + the Machine and The Temper Trap (Vivid LIVE).
Over 500,000 people are expected to attend Vivid Sydney¡¯s free and ticketed events this year.
